YetepAnyone who is even the slightest bit familiar with the world of electronic music recognizes that one first note. That high E synth note. The similar synth sounds that fade in. And finally, confirming your suspicions… that doodoodoodoodoo.
That’s right: we’re talking about “Sandstorm,” that incredibly wonderful late-90s trance hit.
And one American hero – Kyle Tucker – is here to give this track the highest honor of all: turn it into the national anthem. And there’s no better way to do that than with a Change.com petition.
Tucker states that the current anthem is “outdated and stale” and that making this high school prom staple the new anthem will make sure that our nation is “elevated in the modern age.” While this song isn’t exactly the most modern, given its 1999 release, “Sandstorm” most definitely screams “Y2K” with its new millennium vibes.
And although the song isn’t exactly American (producer Darude is Finnish), it’s extremely popularity at sporting events and high school dances may mean we can let that slide.
Still not convinced? Spare a few minutes to watch the action-packed music video and see if you change your mind:

Oh yeah, it’s definitely national anthem-worthy. Do you agree? Sign the petition here!
