Relentless Beats

Phoenix Lights’ Treats Us With Kaskade Redux and Datsik Afterparties

Oh man, oh man, oh man… You guys aren’t even ready. Phoenix Lights was already a big deal, but now it got even bigger and crazier than before. So take a deep breathe, and then lets get ready for what is really going to be the most monumental weekend that Relentless Beats has ever thrown at you guys yet. We’re gonna work our way up and start with the Datsik afterparty details first, and then we are going to move onto that ever so glorious Kaskade REDUX set.

So on Sunday after the second day of Phoenix Lights, the doors of our wonderful Monarch Theater are going to be open at 9pm for Datsik. The event is 18+ so anyone can come although tickets are only available EXCLUSIVELY to people who already have their Phoenix Lights Festival ticket!(So buy a Phoenix Lights ticket if you haven’t already!!)

If you’re not familiar with Datsik, his real name is Troy Beetles. His roots are in dubstep and that’s probably what he is most known for, but he really will dominate anything that is considered bass music. Datsik took his initial steps into global dominance in 2009 with his first official release, the Nuke ‘Em EP, which set the new precedence of the future of dubstep and bass music. Since then he has released another five albums and EP’s, several singles, toured all across the world, and worked with many other famous artists such as Skrillex, Diplo, Kaskade, and Zedd, as well as two collaborations with Bassnectar and two more with Diplo on his Express Yourself EP. Check out all these songs and many others in the playlist below, as a personal fan girl of Datsik, I know you wont be let down with his music.

Alright, now we get to talk about what everybody is most excited for. He has only performed this set a number of times (According to this Reddit thread posted 11 months ago he has only done it 24 times in the last 2 or 3 years). It’s a personal favorite of his and it’s something the man himself takes great joy and pride in. Redux.

The Saturday night directly after day one of Phoenix Lights, Kaskade will be bringing Arizona something special and completely unique compared to what anyone else does. Doors will open at 9pm for people 21+ and once again EXCLUSIVELY to people who have already bought their Phoenix Lights tickets(As if you already needed another reason to buy one).

So what is Kaskade’s Redux set? What makes it so special and different from a normal Kaskade set? Let’s go ahead and let Kaskade’s definition of what Redux is answer that question:

I commemorated the ten-year anniversary of my album, ‘It’s You, It’s Me’ by dreaming big of a stripped-down possibility called Redux. The inspiration for Redux was simplicity. My intention: to play small clubs, and for all who participated to be taken back a decade, when it was all about the music. When the term ‘House Music’ meant something pure. I wanted to touch base with my foundation, and do it in a way that was intimate. Redux has graduated from being an intention to describing a revolution where our coup d’état is a reversal of time. Redux is an observance of massive sound but restrained lights, married with hedonic amounts of deep and emotive house. When you close your eyes, you’re not missing anything; you’re doing it right. Redux will not be experienced by tens of thousands, but rather, hundreds. You know, like the way we used to do it.”

You can tell just from this simple paragraph that this Redux set is something Kaskade hold dear to his heart. He isn’t simply trying to go up there and play music. He’s trying to create an experience for everyone that is the same all the way across the board from ear to ear. If you want to get a taste of what one of his sets sound like, check out the playlist below and you’ll find his Redux set from San Francisco and Las Vegas.

The weekend of April 2-3 is going to be stacked. Between Phoenix Lights itself, Kaskade Redux, and Datsik, I’m not sure how many of us are going to wake up on Monday the day after all of this. Either way I can promise you guys that you do not want to miss out on these events. It’s what everybody is going to be talking about for a long time until the fall rolls around again so PLEASE do not miss out!
