YetepIn the short time that the label This Ain’t Bristol has been cranking out groovy tunes, they’ve created a reputation for themselves as a label of straight heavy hitters, delivering music from the likes of Maximono, Ghostea, Landis LaPace, and, co-founder of the label, Billy Kenny. The latest release from the founder/producer off the house label holds up its standard for incredible, unique productions that maintain that This Ain’t Bristol sound.
Billy Kenny’s work on “Ron Dat” proves an excellent display of his abilities to take on an unexpected sample and creating an entirely new groove. With deep, synth riffs and a winding bass line, “Ron Dat” almost marks dance on the dark side of Billy Kenny’s production style. The second single “Work Me”, comes in with a kicking hi-hat and sassy vocals that make up club vibe heaven. As the bass kicks in hard, the track goes into an unstoppable groove that completely embodies the sounds of This Ain’t Bristol. The absolute banger “Work Me” has also been remixed by Dirtybirds Sacha Robotti and Justin Jay. In Sacha Robotti’s take on “Work Me”, he takes the track into space with deep, dark futuristic sounds, making it a booty bouncing remix to an incredible track. Justin Jay funked up the track, completely transforming it into disco heaven with a variety of percussive beats, funky bass lines, and vintage synth riffs.
The singles are fresh off the press of a string of flawless productions from the label. Tracks that come out of This Ain’t Bristol are quickly becoming staples in house and techno sets everywhere, making the label an undeniable force as exquisite tastemakers in dance music. While the latest singles from Billy Kenny, “Ron Dat” and “Work Me”, including Sacha Robotti ‘s remix, are available on Beatport, Justin Jay’s remix of “Work Me” is available for free download, so snag that while you can. If you’re ready to be worked by Sacha Robotti, he’ll be making his debut in Arizona at RB Deep alongside Ardalan on May 14. Dirtybird Justin Jay will also be coming back for another funky set at RB Deep at Shady Park on April 30th.
