The Relentless Beat of the Week is meant to exemplify a track that holds a certain amount of relevancy to the week’s happenings in the EDM world, as well as a song that represents us as a brand. This week’s Beat of the Week fits this criteria more so than maybe any other yet. With that said, there are a number of reasons that I decided to go with the Seven Lions remix of Ferry Corsten‘s 2006 classic, “Beautiful,” as this week’s Relentless Beat of the Week.
First off: This weekend is set to be one of the most beautiful weekend in Relentless Beats’ history as a company. Phoenix Lights lands at Margaret T Hance Park with one of our biggest productions to date, with one of our biggest line-ups ever, and with a number of outstanding art booths, astounding vendors, and a crowd that is sure to give Phoenix a chance to shine out among all other electronic markets in the country. An appropriate track to highlight the beautiful things to come.
In addition, in regards to cultural relevancy, Seven Lions has just released his latest EP Creation, which, when all is said and done, is semi-lackluster compared to previous releases from the artist. However, the EP does contain some amazing songs that pick up where others fell short. Check out the rundown on Creation here.
But, lets dig into the actual song, “Beautiful” and this remix in particular. Seven Lions makes up for the short comings in Creation with this amazing new remix, one that hearkens back to his remix of trance classics like “You’ve Gotta Go” by Above & Beyond and “Still With Me” by Tritonal. This is the Seven Lions that I fell in love with the first time I heard “Days to Come.” Everything about “Beautiful” is beautiful; from the inviting whispers and transcending evolution of Montalvo’s synth work, to the transition into the original lyrical master, muted by ambience, Seven Lions transforms this stunning trance anthem into a fierce display of his own career-defining sound wrapped up in a singular track.
“Everything is Beautiful, Let the Music Carry You”
Other remixes released alongside the Seven Lions rework include trance heavy mixes from Aly & Fila and MaRLo. This is all to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the original track off of Corsten’s second artist album, L.E.F.
Don’t miss out on a beautiful weekend as #TheLightsReturn
