YetepTorro Torro‘s “Make A Move” recently received the remix treatment from a number of solid artists including Star Slinger X Mark Johns, Skrillex, and Habstrakt. The original track was a huge hit when it dropped back in Spring of 2015, but with these re-imagined versions of the track there is a certain rejuvenation that make it feel fresh in unimaginable ways.
For this week’s Relentless Beat of the Week, we will be tackling two of these three remixes to celebrate the arrival of two very special artists coming to town in the month of May. The first remix that we will look at is the Skrillex remix of “Make A Move.”
Skrillex’s take on “Make A Move” starts off with a rapid progression using the song’s vocal track and a whimsical synth to build into an even faster clap track that incorporates a vocal sample talking of “chaos and damage.” The track then takes on that familiar Skrillex flare by including deep croaks and seething zips to create a drop reminiscent of his remix of GTA’s “Red Lips.”
Skrillex makes his way to Scottsdale on May 28th for our Memorial Day Weekend celebrations, playing a day before German house star, Robin Schulz.
Habstrakt’s take on the song starts out more traditionally with a slow and steady build into a heavy organ sounding synth and the accompanying vocal track. As the voice slowly fades into the depths of the track, welcome to the mix a massive future house sound, similar to that of Confession label-head Tchami. This track certainly takes on a much groovier face than that of Skrillex’s filthy dub remix, but each serve their own unique purpose which is a testament to their abilities as artists to take the same track and develop it into something completely different from one another.
Habstrakt will be here on May 7th with Dirtyphonics and Funtcase for their Neckbreaker North American Tour at Monarch Theatre.
