YetepThis week’s DJ to Watch I’d describe as similar to Bassnectar, but a little more G. The artist is G Jones; I’ve heard when he plays, not one of his shows are ever the same. Lucky for all of you, he will be bringing his genre-bending bass music to play Mind Tricks on us at BOO! AZ this October 15th alongside a lineup that was made for bassheads including Wuki, Ghastly, NGHTMRE, Snails, Excision and Knife Party. Pre-sale tickets to see G Jones with all these other talented artists went on sale July 27th TODAY at 10am and are available here.
G Jones hails from the bay area, just south in Santa Cruz to be exact, and began writing songs at the young age of 9-years-old on his guitar. His love for music was influenced by his older brother who had played the guitar and was really into alternative rock music when he was growing up. Switching to producing music on the computer at the age of 13, G Jones would record himself playing the drums and guitar using Garageband. He made the switch to purely producing electronic music at the age of 15 by using drum samples and software synths at the time.
Just two years ago, G Jones was struggling to balance finishing graduating college from UCSC while touring and writing music, but now the UCSC grad has all the time in the world to pursue his true passion, and he most certainly is going at it 110%! At the end of this week, G Jones will be playing at Bassnectar’s own festival BASS Center, Labor Day Weekend we can enjoy Minnesota B2B G Jones at Nocturnal Wonderland, and finally on one of the best bass heavy lineups AZ has seen, here at BOO! AZ on October 15th. I highly recommend checking out the rest of his SoundCloud for some wonky, dubby, and glitchy bass music.
