YetepEver wonder what happens behind the ears of Deadmau5? On July 27, fans can finally get a (virtually) real taste of the life of this EDM superstar. Deadmau5, in conjunction with Absolut Labs, has launched a virtual reality game.
In the game users will be able to interact with Deadmau5’s cars, crowds and even his cat as they experience a day in the life of Deadmau5 by helping him race towards a show. The game is simple, just tap on the screen to direct Deadmau5 where you want him to go. Check out this behind the scenes preview:
Absolut Nights Presents Absolut deadmau5
Deadmau5 also used this unique setting to debut a brand new track “Saved” which he performs at the end of the experience, recorded in his hometown Toronto. This is one of the first tracks to debut via a VR experience.
The app will be available for download on July 27 in all major app stores including iOS, Android, and Samsung. To have the full experience, it is recommended that users use Absolut deadmau5 custom VR cardboard headsets which are available for pre-order here.
Deadmau5 and Absolut have teamed up for an official launch party in New York City on Wednesday July 27 where attendees will be treated to a set from Deadmau5 himself. If you’re in the New York area, purchase tickets for the event here.
Deadmau5 also sat down with Billboard and talked about the collision of VR and the music industry.
“We’re gonna start to see a merge happen in the industry, where production companies will be talking to game studios. These two worlds are gonna collide, and when they do — they’re already starting to now — it’s gonna be a really big thing you’re gonna really regret not getting into now at this time, not in the future.”
Could VR really be the future of the music industry?
