YetepDubstep is a unique genre loved by a unique breed. For all you dub lovers out there, I’m sure you’ve heard of 12th Planet. He is one of the most energetic and talented dubstep producers out there and I’m going to try and help you get to know him a little better.
Also known as John Dazdie, 12th Planet started making music in high school and actually started off as a drum and bass producer known by the moniker of Infiltrata. He toured the world as Infiltrata for 7 years and won over icons such as Goldie and Photek, and then decided to give himself a new name and begin working on a new sound.
Inspired by sounds from the likes of Technical Itch, Skream and Benga, John discovered the world of dubsteb in 2005 and was one of the first producers to bring dubstep to light. He chose to go by the alias 12th planet because of the mythological twelfth planet popularized by controversial author Zecharia Sitchin, our 12th Planet flies perpendicular to the system, similar to his beats flying off the axis.
Since John became 12th Planet, he has conquered the Los Angeles scene and is often dubbed as one of the American kings of dubstep. He has worked with numerous dubstep artists like Skrillex, Datsik, Doctor P, Plastician, Skream to name a few and these artists along with many others have included his tracks in their sets and mixes. 12th planet also has his own label, SMOG, and has performed at some of the biggest music festivals around the country.
I have had the pleasure of seeing 12th planet perform a few times, and am just as excited as I was the first time seeing him for him to graze Arizona with his dub once again. This guys energy while performing is just as high as it is within his music and he knows how to put on a show to ay the least. He will be joining us at Shady Park for the Game Day Tour once again on Friday, October 7th, and you won’t want to miss it.
