YetepDaniel Goldstein, better known by his stage name Lane 8, is a California-born Leipzig-based deep house producer. Lane 8 has a reputation in the house scene for creating melodic, emotional sound that succeeds both in the club and on the iPod. This skill has built him a strong fan base and a wide range of support from other artists, such as Above and Beyond, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, The Magician, and more. While his remixes for Above and Beyond, ODESZA, and Eric Prydz are attracting the mainstream audience, his DJ style is appealing to a more indie audience, in addition to his deep house and techno fan base. Daniel’s DJ sets are usually musical journeys with smooth transitions that would take the audience to a new and unfamiliar place. About two months ago, Lane 8 created a summer mixtape to celebrate the release of a few of his singles and the beginning of festival season. Check out the mixtape below.
This mixtape is an hour and fifty minutes of road trip music — consists of silky bass, emotional deep house beats, and fascinatingly beautiful instrumentals. Daniel begins the mixtape with an unreleased and unnamed track he has been working on and it took the trip off onto the right start. After that, the audience is in cruise control on this Lane 8 express across melodic deep house music territory, with tracks from the likes of Victor Ruiz, Bicep, Cristoph, Cid Inc, Jonas Rathsman, Tim Green, Maceo Plex, and Kidnap Kid. The mixtape also features two of Lane 8’s new singles “Divina” and “Crush“.
Daniel Goldstein will be bringing his Lane 8 express to Monarch Theater in Downtown Phoenix on September 24 as a stop for his North America tour called “This Never Happened”. Created and enforced by Lane 8 himself, “This Never Happened” is a new event concept — removing distractions from phones and photos, and encouraging the audience to enjoy and experience the music in its purest form.
