Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island Mention a Festival Mishap Movie

When festival attendees washed up on a beach in the Bahamas expecting an extravagant weekend getaway at Fyre Festival, they were shocked. However, it wasn’t a positive element of surprise.

As planes started to unload onto the island, attendees came to find their getaway spot lined with rescue mission domes. Considering they paid a whopping $4,300 minimum for the entire experience, which included a round-trip plane ticket, entry to the event, and a space to crash, the domes didn’t exactly meet their expectations.

In addition to the domes, the “gourmet food” experience was also underwhelming. It consisted merely of bread, cheese, and lettuce, the equivalent of a jail bird’s lunch. Oh, and let’s not forget about the “concierge” booth that was less than that of a concession stand at a middle schooler’s basketball game.

From what one could tell by looking through the #FyreFestival feeds online, the crowd of people stranded at the event were not happy. On the other hand, the ones at home were scrolling through as they found humor in everything that was going down on the island.

Whatever the event planner’s intentions were, it’s safe to say Fyre Festival was the most amusing series of events documented through social media in a while. It left people flabbergasted.

During the whole shabang, Seth Rogen tweeted, “This seems to be a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes HORRIBLY WRONG.”

Coincidence? Who knows. All we can really tell is that some of the funniest dudes in comedy are getting together to film a mockery of the modern day obsession over music festivals. It is no secret that many were amused as the Fyre Festival unfolded on social media, so a motion picture version of the catastrophe seems to be a reasonable project.

In response to Seth’s tweet, The Lonely Island joked about sueing Fyre Festival for stealing their idea. So now that the thought of producing a movie on a mishap music festival has come to life with this holiday gone wrong, it will be interesting to see what these guys come up with.
