YetepAs the days get warmer we’re constantly seeking out a vibe that’s a bit cooler. There’s no better place to end your hectic work week and start your weekend than in the heart of downtown Phoenix at Bar Smith. BFF–Big Fun Fridays–is Downtown Phoenix’s weekly rooftop dance party featuring the electronic sounds of house, techno, indie electronic, deep house, bass music and everything in between. The vibe, community, and detail on the music itself go unmatched. The chalkboard wall and Gestalt Theory visuals are a special touch that enhances the vibe; the location in Downtown Phoenix and being able to dance under the stars doesn’t hurt much either.

Over the last four years Bar Smith and the guys behind BFF have been building this concept into something huge. When asked about the growth of BFF and where they see this event going, curator and resident DJ Sean Watson said,
“We keep getting a stronger core of friends, family, and people who love to dip a little deeper into well-produced tunes you are not going to hear at any other venue, anywhere. It’s also a treat to be able to see some of the Artist we bring in a small, close and intimate venue. We are fortunate enough to have an endless talent pool of producers and artists here in Arizona. We can keep 2 floors active and fresh. We are ramping up the game this summer and fall on all aspects thanks to our support system and artists who want to play the party now. It’s quite a beautiful circle.”
Alongside Sean are resident DJs Benni Beatnik, Klü, and CORMAC who bring the shenanigans and keep guests dancing into the late hours each week. In addition to the amazing in-house talent, BFF also hosts huge talents from across the globe such as Lousiahhh, Benson, Cut Snake and Sydney Blu just to name a few. Other brand and labels with a slew of their own talent, such as Drip Drop, have gotten in of the BFF magic, too, often taking over the downstairs club-like setting. Sean said, “We have been handpicking artists and trying to set a comfortable vibe at BFF for the last 4 years bringing House, Techno and left field electronic with our concept geared toward the music and happiness. We, fortunately, have grown a pretty amazing family every Friday and with the addition of Drip Drop in the place bringing new faces the ripple keeps expanding.”
Upcoming shows include Guy J performing on the rooftop tonight, Dirtybird’s Maximono on June 9th and Sharam Jay on July 7th. You can find tickets in the linked dates. This is just the beginning of a fun summer ahead of ‘big fun Fridays’ in the heart of downtown. Connect with BFF to stay up to date on all their future shows!
