YetepIf you have been following Illenium as religiously as I have for the past few years, you know just as well as I that he never releases anything less than mind-blowing. This past summer we heard his collab with Zeds Dead, “Where the Wild Things Are,” which gave electronic listeners a definite treat. Now, Illenium debuts his new album, Awake. This is his first album since Ashes which blew us away with his future bass rhythm and tear-jerking lyrics. Check it out below:
Awake features a few songs, such as “Fractures” and a popular collaboration with Gryffin, “Feel Good,” that we’ve had the pleasure of hearing a few months before the album’s release. Both songs have been hugely popular and made the anticipation of a new album that much greater. One of my personal favorite songs off the album is “Needed You” with Dia Frampton. I love this song because it showcases Illenium’s usual feels-y melody but adds trance elements that make it a little different than his usual releases.
Illenium was one of the first EDM artists I ever truly connected with, and this album reminded me why. If you’re getting tired of all the heavy headbangers and need something to “awaken” your soul, I highly recommend this album, and all of Illenium’s off-album tracks as well.
