YetepNicky Romero‘s Protocol Recordings imprint is privy to releasing artists who exemplify the free spirit of electronic music, and last time we were introduced to the Italian powerhouse trio known as Sunstars and their funkalicious track “Ghetto Funk,” we were pleasantly surprised with their Nu-Funk electronic sensibilities.
This time, Sunstars with D.O.D. are back with a new party-starter, “Morph.” When compared to “Ghetto Funk,” D.O.D. helps Sunstars go down a more traditional route with classic house stylings. Using less vocal samples than before, pandemonium is the game with this genre-shattering single. We thought we knew who we were dealing with when we first heard Sunstars but the trio is again messing with us as they take their music in unexpected directions.
D.O.D. & Sunstars – Morph
“Morph” is a testament to this ever-changing music philosophy as Sunstars and D.O.D. work the track into a club that threw up a Michael Bay fight scene. In terms of creative compatibility, both artists have no problem meshing their styles into one cohesive unit. “Morph” clearly has the potential to become a banger within the house scene with its ode to classic sounds, and its dedication to fast beats with new inspiration. Sunstars and D.O.D.’s track can be found here, and stay on the lookout for more quick licks from Protocol.
