YetepProduction juggernaut What So Not has revealed a brand new single. Titled “Beautiful,” it’s a forward-thinking house outing, topped with Winona Oak’s gorgeous vocals to match. The track comes from What So Not’s forthcoming debut LP Not All The Beautiful Things; slated for release on March 9th via Counter Records, it’s his greatest artistic statement to date that comes jam-packed with features from Skrillex, San Holo, SLUMBERJACK, Daniel Johns, Rome Fortune, Dyro, and legendary yacht rockers Toto.
On the topic of “Beautiful,” What So Not explains:
There’s a sense of optimism, anxiousness & longing, but also an undertone of sadness. All reinforced with the incredible duality along her vocal range. It’s always intrigued me how this song evokes such a feeling of freedom & open space yet the protagonist sounds quite troubled. I think the hypnotic & intoxicating energy of the production also adds to this perplexity. We put this together in the jungle of Nicaragua which definitely had a sizeable impact on the sound pallet but one of my favorite things has to be how ‘Robert Plant’ Ryan McMahon (Captain Cuts) managed to propel his vocal adlib.
With over 469 million streams, sold out shows across the globe, and a slew of electronic anthems under his belt, What So Not is positioned for a massive 2018. Alongside the release of Not All The Beautiful Things, he’s prepared to head out on a sprawling, continent-traversing tour. Lucky for us, this tour brings him back to the Southwest.
