YetepPatrick Megeath, better known as Dirt Monkey, brings new some much-needed filth to a childhood treat and quirky YouTube video. Released on Bassrush Records last week, “Peanut Butter Jelly Time” is a wonk wonderland of a beat. Meeting somewhere between old school and new wave dubstep, DM’s latest is chalked full of dirty dubs ad wubs, all blended together in low BMP banger. This is the song that will make you slam your drink and make way to the dance floor, yeah- it’s that good.
In an interview with Insomniac, Dirt Monkey shared the inspiration behind this fun-titled track: “I wrote this while on the Bear Grillz tour last fall. Every night after each show, we would all go straight to the bus and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I figured I should make a song about it, cuz PB&J is the best food on earth.”
Come May 12th, it’s “Peanut Butter Jelly Time” at the Monarch Theatre. Dirt Monkey, along with Subtronics and Blunts & Blondes are set to get grimey; grab your tickets here.
