YetepWhen you hear Borgore has released new music you probably expect the usual filthy dubstep that he produces and plays out at his shows. His latest project, Adventures In Time, see the classically trained musician go in a completely different direction–jazz. That’s right. Jazz. Borgore proves he is a boundary-busting king deconstructing the stereotype of what a musician should be by blending his bass, trance, hip hop, dubstep, and now jazz influences. Playing with standard Jazz time signatures and tapping into his musical background (saxophone, piano, drums) and years of experience as a producer provided Borgore with an extreme advantage to self-compose, record, mix, and master an album unlike anything he’s released to date. The six-song album chronicles Borgore’s music career over the past ten years, with some songs more than five years ago. Check the album out below.
Known for disrupting the EDM scene since the onset of his career, it’s no surprise that Borgore continues to challenge music ‘norms’. When choosing a favorite track, Borgore leans toward the more complicated of the bunch, appropriately titled: “It’s complicated”, “Weed or without you”, and “Winter in TLV”. “These tracks all have the most f*cked up time signatures, and I like that weird feeling,” Borgore explains. The complex compositions across the album stray from Jazz standards, with some songs changing time signatures in every bar. While fans might have to wait for a full Jazz tour, they can still hear Jazz elements in Borgore’s live sets, as he turns standards into dubstep beats.
Catch Borgore at Talking Stick Resort on Saturday, June 30th with Bonnie x Clyde. Don’t miss this one–grab tickets here!
