Zeds Dead’s New Single will ‘Kill Em’

Bass bosses Zeds Dead have a knack for nailing every track they produce. From original bass music that’s liquidy and psychedelic to bouncy bass house, the duo is dynamic and clearly ambitious. Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, also known as DC and Hooks, have a number of EPs and a full-length album under their belt, but they do more than that. They also created Deadbeats Radio, the Deadbeats record label, and are currently hosting a stacked lineup on their Deadbeats tour. Somehow during all their recent successes, they have found time to collaborate with 1000volts, which features Redman and Jayceeoh, and the results are electrifying.

The track is introduced by Redman spitting lyrics and a grimy beat to create something in between trap and bass. “Kill Em” is nearly frantic, but in all the right ways. The slower BPM style Zed’s Dead is known for quickly speeds up for the buildup with high pitched electronic sounds, and then the drop is even nastier than the intro. It transitions back with a sassy, “Shut the f*ck up and listen,” which highlights the influence 1000volts has on this track. The two pairs working together have clearly collaborated for all the right reasons – both creator groups are filthy for entirely different reasons, so a marriage of both styles has produced a provocative track to get down to.
