YetepHave you been working on your whistle? Steve Darko has, as well as a whole EP he’s titled Firecracker. The EP is out now on Dirtybird Records, and features two tracks: “Whistle Work” and a collab with Uncle Kev called “My Hood.” While both tracks are in the smooth vein of deep house, each one has a very different energy.
“Whistle Work” is a funky track with a fun vibe, with bird whistle samples and lyrics like “I’ve been working on my whistle whatchu think about it.” It’s a dynamic song that you can play while you’re sitting at your desk, or switch on for some shuffling and dancing. Darko takes it one deeper with “My Hood,” taking the BPM down a little and sampling warped, slugglish vocals that slur, “I like my hood.” This one has less energy and more trippy vibes. Steve Darko has created a nice sampler of different deep house tracks, so you’re guaranteed to love it.
