YetepOn April 5th Bear Grillz released the second single, “Stay” featuring Micah Martin, off his newest album, It’s a new direction for the lovably crude bear and easily one of his best, most mature tracks yet. “Stay” is a motivational song that’s combines Micah Martin’s rock anthem vocals with Bear Grillz’s ferocious bass. We know that he can create some pretty grizzly bass drops (pun intended), but the song really showcases his talent as a genre-bending producer as well.
We’ve been seeing a different side of Bear Grillz lately. For the most part, the anthropomorphic bear is known for producing hilarious dubstep bangers. In 2017 he revealed himself as Robert James Pangelinan (RJ), a Denver-based DJ who taught himself music production through Youtube tutorials and ever since his unmasking, Bear Grillz has shown us a different side to his music. In February, he surprised fans with “Demons” featuring RUNN, the leading single on his newest album that will be released on Dim Mak Records later this year. This direction is pretty risky considering the bass-obsessed cult fandom he’s created, but his OG fans have remained supportive and love the dubstep bear’s new era. He’s done a great job exploring different aspects of EDM while still giving the people what they want: unapologetically intense music.
