Watch it Wednesday: Sofi Tukker – ‘Swing’

Sofi Tukker is an indie electronic duo based in New York consisting of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. They are known for pushing the boundaries of genre, incorporating everything from House music to 70’s style Bossa Nova. Their latest single, “Swing,” is a perfect example of that experimentalism, including lyrics from the Brazilian poet Chacal, intentionally designed to be as nonsensical as possible.

The music video is just as wild as the track, as the two battle it out in an epic showdown. Hit play below on this week’s Watch it Wednesday.

“Swing” is the first single off the duo’s upcoming EP, R.I.P. Shame Pt. 1, expected out on September 20th. Sofi Tukker said about the track, “This song always felt like an epic battle song. It’s more like a chant than a song, really… It’s really about how delicious and delightful and also meaningless words ultimately are.”
