Illenium and Ekali Release Long-Awaited Collaboration

Illenium and Ekali are two artists who have each perfected the art of compelling music. Illenium had an amazing year with his release of ASCEND, his third studio album, and Ekali’s release of “Be Fine” featuring Wafia and “Runaway” featuring Reo Cragun, each reaching over a million streams on Spotify alone. Fans have been begging the two to combine their distinct styles and finally they delivered one of the most epic collabs of 2019, “Hard to Say Goodbye” featuring Chloe Angelides.

Released on November 22, “Hard to Say Goodbye” is easily one of the best collaborations from both Illenium and Ekali. As most Illenium tracks, the song begins with a sentimental piano melody that introduces Chloe Angelides’ angelic vocals. A rap-inspired drum beat builds up the energy into a breathtaking drop. The drop is a perfect balance between Illenium’s powerful chord progressions and Ekali’s subtle ear candy and melodic evolution. The drop falls into the break, but the divine, omnipresent energy remains. This energy is slowly transitioned into the second drop. If you enjoyed the first drop, be sure to listen to the second because it’s even more striking. “Hard to Say Goodbye” is truly a phenomenal song and we can only hope for more Ekali and Illenium collaborations in 2020.
