YetepHailing from Cologne, Germany, super-house duo Simon Haehnel and Tobias Mueller made 2010 their year when they burst out of the studio and onto the stage as Andhim. After quickly streamlining their success from up-and-coming new kids on the block to conquerors of the biggest stages in Europe, Asia, and North America, Andhim has even further cemented themselves as internationally influential artists for their hip-hop grassroots and heavy use of samples. Aside from musicality, Andhim also emits playfully alluring energy onstage. This entertaining warmth looped them into playing Pleinvrees, a curation in The Netherlands and Amsterdam driven by a passion for melodic and deep music. Listen to their four-hour set in De Marktkantine below for this week’s RB Deep in the Mix.
Brimming with infusions of groove and funk, Andhim delivers brooding essences of playfulness and soul in this extended mix. The basslines are grounded in a deep, soothing bassline while eccentric samples are sprinkled through like pops of energy. This recording of their extended live mix alone is entrancing, but to experience this duo’s performance in person and feed off of their energy must be compelling enough to dance all night. Andhim, along with Lubelski, will be bringing down the treehouse with deep house at Shady Park on April 19th. Find your tickets to the show here.
