YetepSteve Darko. You’ve likely seen the name on a lineup or two by now, but if not, trust us when we say that this house music favorite is one you’ll quickly want to become familiar with.
Having just come off performances at DayTrip LA and the West Coast Dirtybird Campout, Steve Darko is no rookie on the scene; a gearhead by trade, Darko is as knowledgeable as they come. Hailing from Boston, MA, he got his start as a software developer, but has since made his mark as a producer, signing multiple tracks to Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Records and subsequently joining VonStroke on his 2018 tour as a direct supporting act.
Darko began programming around twelve years old and immediately fell in love, which led him to pursue a college degree in computer engineering. Serendipitously, he found an internship with the well-known production software company iZotope and has been with the company since.
Darko has concocted an edgy and dynamic sound by challenging himself to work with a variety of genres, ranging from his earlier renditions of bass music to his tech-house style we hear today. It’s a little dark, a little sexy, and a little not-of-this-world. Darko is already an underground fan-favorite and is quickly rising in popularity. He expertly builds tension and creates curiosity-provoking soundscapes, layering thoughtful levels of juxtaposition over a minimalistic style of house music. Take a listen to his Midnight Swim album and you’ll know what we mean!
His self-professed passion for making strange but danceable electronic music has us captivated. Darko is making waves with his Midnight Swim Tour, which kicked off October 1, 2021, and is also booked on upcoming events including Groove Cruise and Seismic Dance Event.
Catch Darko on his Midnight Swim Tour at Shady Park on November 21—grab your tickets to this can’t-miss TreeHouse Sunday here!
