YetepOssama Al Sarraf and Ned Shepard met in the club scene of Montreal in the mid 2000’s. After experimenting with music together and discovering they had a natural musical chemistry, the duo formed Sultan + Shepard in 2010.
They quickly began collaborating with revered artists like Dillon Francis, Tiesto, and Fedde Le Grand as well as remixing tracks from major pop acts like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and Madonna. Their big break came in 2012 with the release of their anthemic single “Walls,” which led them on tour across the globe with stops at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Mysteryland, and a residency at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
In 2013, the duo was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for their remix of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven.” Later on, they would also receive a nomination for the Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year (“Almost Home”) and receive the Canadian songwriters SOCAN Music award for International Song of the Year (“Bad”, multi-platinum hit co-written and co-produced with David Guetta, Showtek and Vassy).
The duo landed a contract with Armada Music in 2016, which led to a string of hits including “Love Me Crazy” and “Almost Home,” which hit the #1 position on the U.S. Mediabase chart and peaked at #4 on the Billboard dance charts.
Today, the duo seems to have found their home on Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint, with recent projects like “Skipping Stones” with Le Youth, “Losing Ground” with Tishmal, and their 2021 studio album, Something, Everything.
These two talented musicians continue to cultivate their craft, and we suspect big things on the horizon. In the meantime, don’t miss Sultan + Shepard at Sunbar on Saturday, March 11th. Grab your tickets here!
