Relentless Beats

‘Make It Wobble (feat Takura)’ – A WooliNoise Collaboration for the Ages

Two giants of the dubstep world, Kill the Noise and Wooli, have teamed up with Takura for a genre-hopping extravaganza. “Make It Wobble” mixes influences from several different genres of EDM to create a powerful and intricate track. The song begins with a classic reggae-tinged dubstep beat and Takura’s DnB inspired vocals and flow. “Wobble’s” instrumentals bounce in tandem with the attitude-filled verses, creating auditory symmetry and a unique vibe that sounds GREAT! An intense drum fill transforms this classic dubstep beat into an intergalactic shuttle in seconds flat. Very impressive. Takura encourages us to “make it wobble” as the beat does the very same. They are perfectly synchronized.

Unlike a lot of EDM songs, the drums and percussion do not speed up much to initiate the first drop. In this song, that job belongs to the spiraling synths. A much-welcomed change. In my opinion, this leads to a much more full-sounding drop that is a pleasant surprise upon first listen. The beat wobbles in waves like an erratic EKG machine. The drop takes a pleasant head-banging detour as we head for a short break. A “3, 2, 1!” countdown leads us to an extended vocal bridge that expands from the count of 1, becoming rhythmically distorted along the way. A surprise chorus leads us to the second, heavier drop. YES! For some reason, I love when the second drop is heavier than the first. It really shows off the versatility of all the producers involved in “Make It Wobble.” And just like that, the same reggae-tinged beat from the beginning comes full circle to close us out, while being accompanied by a new synth line.

This song effectively mixes multiple-genres and influences including rap/hip-hop, dubstep, drum and bass (DnB). “Make It Wobble” also displays innate characteristics of the artists involved. Wooli’s sound is exemplified in this song’s heaviest moments, while KTN’s sound is showcased through the song’s more melodic and progressive moments. Takura’s personality is also put on full display here. His self-assured verses give the song a unique sound and edge. He effortlessly switches between rapping and doing DnB-adjacent vocal patterns. Everyone involved on this project is super talented and worthy of your attention. Listen ASAP please. You will not regret it!
