Walker & Royce: Redefining Dance Music with ‘No Big Deal’

Eccentric New York-based duo Walker & Royce have just shared their sophomore album, No Big Deal! Walker & Royce are redefining dance music with their infinite mission to bring the party back to dance. No Big Deal is a highly collaborative project with a colorful cast of personalities, including Grammy-nominated vocalist Barney Bones, comedian/musician Reggie Watts, Glass Petals, Elohim, VNSSA, Grammy-nominated vocalist James Patterson (and half of the electronic duo The Knocks), and more. No Big Deal is out now via Dirtybird Records.

No Big Deal emphasizes Walker & Royce’s unique sound and features a range of dancefloor-ready hits from beginning to end. November’s release of Part One of the album gave us a 4-track preview with collaborations by Reggie Watts, Indian-Canadian hip-hop artist Harm Franklin, and South Central vocalist Barney Bones. The energetic basslines and sharp, tech-driven synth stabs of songs like “Let’s Live It Up” and “Cheap Thrills” instantly had us mesmerized.

In comes Part Two, with booming vibrations and notable high-performance tracks like “I Don’t Remember,” a highly anticipated collaboration with esteemed DJ and producer VNSSA. More fun comes with the beaming disco-esque hit “Might Just,” leading us into the fervent charisma displayed on songs like “Motivashun” and “Fatalistic Groove.” “Tha Tea” comes in as a surprise and is an incredible feet-tapping drum and bass groove. “Stop Time,” a collaboration with Glass Petals and Elohim, is absolutely unreal and helps close out the album perfectly next to pretty drum and bass banger “Did You Mean It” with ZOF.

No Big Deal embodies the carefree, fun-loving atmosphere that has helped Walker & Royce dominate countless dancefloors throughout the course of their career. The album stands out for its diverse dance music roots, which include captivating vocals, upbeat melodies, energizing basslines, and relentless four-on-the-floor percussion. Walker & Royce’s approach for this release transports us to a bygone era when music was simply music and there was no marketing—just vibes. They have easily redefined and revived dance music with No Big Deal.

“To us, this body of work is a testament that you don’t need marketing gimmicks and cheap thrills to push music – what you need is already engrained in you, and supported by those who love you. thank you for sticking with us this long, we promise we’re nowhere near finished.”
