Melodic bass holds a special place in my heart, and Trivecta deserves all the love in the world. Despite often being often overshadowed by giants like Seven Lions and Illenium, Trivecta stands tall in the melodic bass genre, crafting incredible songs that resonate deeply. While his sound may bear resemblance to Seven Lions, Trivecta infuses his own unique flair into his music. Join me as I share five of my favorite Trivecta tracks—get ready for an emotional ride, and hopefully, you’ll discover a new favorite along the way!
“Best for you” by Trivecta, Selah Ford
This track is one of my favorite of all time, and served as the inspiration for this article. Selah Ford’s vocals are simply breathtaking, and the lyrics hit you right in the soul. The song initially delves into heartbreak and feelings of hopelessness but ultimately offers a glimmer of hope—the belief that the right person is out there, and every trial and struggle has been leading to them. The melodic bass drop drives home the emotional intensity of the song, hitting you right in the feels.
“Riptide” by Trivecta, Amidy, RORY
Another gem featuring incredible vocals and poignant lyrics, “Riptide” sets the mood with calm yet emotionally charged guitar chords right off the bat. The song metaphorically compares love to a riptide, emphasizing its irresistible pull. The melodic bass drop is particularly powerful, accentuating the meaning behind the lyrics with strong downbeats and a compelling chord progression.
“Sail Away” by Trivecta, Jay Mason
As the opening track on Trivecta’s debut album, “Sail Away” stands out with Jay Mason’s smooth vocals setting a calming tone. The motivational lyrics encourage listeners to seize the world as their own and embark on a journey. The drop features an infectious hook that builds momentum, leading into a soaring melodic bass note reminiscent of sailing into the horizon. The second drop adds a dubstep flare, fluttering like wind against sails.
“The Loop” by Trivecta, RBBTS
This was my introduction to Trivecta’s music, and it left me hooked. RBBTS delivers haunting vocals, setting a mysterious tone in the first verse. The drop is a personal favorite of mine—a hybrid future bass dubstep fusion with cinematic qualities that truly captivate. It’s a showstopper, especially when experienced live.
“Open Road” by Trivecta, Rico & Miella
Closing out the list is another personal favorite. “Open Road” delves into the complexities of feeling tied down, yet open to the allure of freedom. Rico and Miella’s harmonious vocals add depth to the song. The drop, while soft and gentle, exudes magic, evoking the sensation of soaring above the clouds, free from worry or distraction, and basking in the beauty of the moment.
Trivecta is not to be missed at Sunbar this Saturday, May 25th. The only thing you need to remember when going to the show is to bring tissues! Get your tickets here!
