Multi-Genre Legend GRABBITZ Launches Indie Label, Blue Butterfly Records

On June 21st, industry legend GRABBITZ announced the creation of his own independent record label on Instagram and other social media platforms. The label is appropriately named Blue Butterfly Records after GRABBITZ’s aesthetic and insignia. In the announcement, GRABBITZ opens up about the process of working with numerous labels throughout his career. Stating that “as great as they (labels) may be, the process takes a while. Leaving me with an overwhelming amount of music that sometimes never sees the light of day.” Informing us that, aside from the healing benefits of his creative process, the main reason that he produces music is to “share it with all of you.” Going on to describe Blue Butterfly Records as “the home for everything GRABBITZ,” a way to spotlight artists who inspire him, and the most streamlined way for fans to hear new GRABBITZ tracks.

He dives into his creative philosophy a bit more, acknowledging that the music industry has rapidly changed (and continues to do so) as time goes on. This is likely due to the influence of the internet, social media, and evolving trends and genres within the scene. This announcement shares that artists are under immense pressure to get the attention of labels and have their releases succeed. He states that the creation of Blue Butterfly Records will relieve that pressure. Giving more artists the opportunity to share their music with the dedicated EDM fanbase. Making dreams come true. GRABBITZ believes that it is better for artists to have a consistent output of great tunes, as opposed to trying to top the charts with a single hit. I love this philosophy and agree with it whole-heartedly. Consistency is the name of the game in the social media age and helps artists reach as wide of an audience as possible. He closes out the announcement by stating that this will result in “more music and a happier GRABBITZ. And it all starts next week!” An additional UPDATE was shared to GRABBITZ’s official Instagram on Tuesday, June 25th. Blue Butterfly Records is kicking things off this Friday (June 28th) with the release of In The Dark, a three-song EP from GRABBITZ himself. This is a very exciting update! I cannot wait to hear the new EP what GRABBITZ (and Blue Butterfly Records) have in store for us down the road.

The Blue Butterfly Records announcement gives viewers an inside look at GRABBITZ’s creative philosophy and feelings around the music industry.
