YetepGORDO is currently one of the top Latin DJs and producers out right now, best known for bringing Drake to the house world by producing half of Honestly, Nevermind. He has played the stages of Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Tomorrowland; has worked with artists like Mac Miller, Migos, and ILoveMakonnen; and started his career DJing in some of Ibiza’s most well-known venues. Recently he’s been showing love to the house scene with consistent releases in preparation for his debut album titled DIAMANTE.
GORDO released four singles leading into the album with “Hombres y Mujeres” first released in 2022. The album includes 12 new singles featuring a plethora of artists including production credits for Keinemusik members &ME and Rampa, as well as a couple of co-releases with household names Drake and T-Pain. Drake is on two of the tracks including “Sideways” and “Healing,” making this his first release since the beef with Kendrick. Much of the album gears toward the afro-house sound and is perfectly timed with Drake’s mass attention and the rise in afro-house demand after Keinemusik’s recent hit “Move.”
My personal favorite track on the album is “Aura” because of how well it will sound during sets. It’s one of those tracks that makes me feel completely in the moment, realizing all of the small details around me, people laughing, dancing, smiling… This will be a classic night drive or sunset track for me. Fans of Tinlicker will like this one too.
I’m particularly glad to see the track with Young Dolph since I’m a sucker for a house track blended with “traditional” genres like hip hop. GORDO’s production brings the modern hip hop sound to a bumping house beat, making this a gateway track that will surely introduce new people to house music. Blending genres is something GORDO does particularly well on this album ranging from afro house, latin house, and hip-hop. His growing ventures into the hip-hop scene will likely bring a larger US-based audience and hopefully open up some additional tour dates in the states sometime soon.
