John Summit Finds ‘Comfort in Chaos’ on Debut Album

Dance music superstar John Summit has just released his debut album, Comfort In Chaos! It’s a surreal moment for those of us fans who have witnessed his ascent to fame. From his early TikTok tutorials to the release of his breakthrough track, “Deep End,” John has emerged as one of the scene’s fastest-rising talents. These days, he seems to be balancing the release of hit after hit single, all while doing nonstop tour dates at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. Comfort In Chaos is out now via Darkroom and Summit’s own Experts Only label.

Comfort In Chaos is a fitting title for his first full-length album, considering it precisely embodies that concept. Amongst all the chaos John is surrounded by—from traveling nonstop to putting together new shows and juggling more than most people will ever know—this record has given him a space to be himself and release some of the anxiety that comes with his enormous notoriety. Comfort In Chaos allows us to take an introspective look, not only at John Summit but also at ourselves.

“I’d say it’s the story of my life on the road the past few years. It’s the highs & lows of playing in front of thousands to then being by myself in a hotel room. It’s the duality between being both John Summit on stage & John Schuster all alone at home.”

The album starts with the title track, “Comfort In Chaos,” an atmospheric introduction where you can slowly feel your body start to ascend. From there, each track brings you a little bit higher. With a flawless progression, “Tears,” featuring vocalist Paige Cavell, is a beautiful ode to old-school trance. Diverse collaborations, like “Stay With Me” with bass genius Of The Trees, are abundant throughout Comfort In Chaos. Of The Trees and John Summit create a track that feels like a therapeutic, mental massage—the collaboration we didn’t know we needed. Next up are two previously released songs that are still quite popular: “Shiver,” featuring Hayla, and “EAT THE BASS.” They offer the ideal entryway into the reflective “comedown.” Kaskade and Julia Church then join the party for “Resonate,” taking us straight to a pulsating techno heaven. “Give Me Back” with Elderbrook is simply amazing. Anthem after anthem, one of the biggest tracks of Summit’s career to date, “Where You Are,” is up next, giving us existential bliss once again with powerhouse vocalist HAYLA. Heartfelt passion fuels the unique vocal-forward track “Undo,” featuring KOATES. As we draw to a close, we have drum & bass joint effort with Sub Focus, “Go Back,” featuring Julia Church. Closing us out is my favorite, the whirling and rhythmic symphony “palm of my hands.”

John Summit has a line of production that creates an ethereal ambiance wherever it goes. Comfort In Chaos is the light and the darkness, the happy and the sad. It’s a cohesive collection of art, from the actual cover art itself done by artist Marcos Alvarado to each beat that plays inside. This album is the truest form of self-expression and we cannot wait to experience it live.
