Bass Flips That Are ‘For The Girls’ (& Boys)

Not much compares to the feeling of finding a flip or remix of one of your all-time favorite songs. It’s like rediscovering a hidden gem within a familiar sound, and when you hear that fresh take on the track that you already love, it breathes new life into the music. Hearing how an artist can build off of another artist’s sound and make it feel fresh is so impressive. Here are some of my favorite bass-powered flips as of late, mainly for the girls but some for the boys too.

“Do I Wanna Know” – Arctic Monkeys (YDG Remix)

This one is for my Tumblr girls who grew up and became basshead baddies. YDG is a remix champion, and his flips are radically satisfying. This nostalgic flip of the iconic “Do I Wanna Know” by Artic Monkeys unexpectedly brings two worlds together while simultaneously creating a brand-new one. 

“Girl$” – Dom Dolla (YDG Remix)

I’ve never met a YDG flip I didn’t like. This is an essential addition that proves that YDG is, in fact, for the Girl$. “Toxic” – Britney Spears (Levity Remix)

It only seems right that we add this iconic Britney Spears remix by Levity. This remix is unironically intoxicating! The second drop is flawless. We are so excited to see Levity at Sunbar on September 27th in Tempe, AZ, and at their 360° set at HB Social Club in Honolulu, HI, on November 22nd.

“Go Back” – John Summit x Sub Focus (Flozone Flip)

If you give me the aux, I’m playing this. Rising bass star Flozone has flips that are made for the heavens, and this one is a blessing for your eardrums. His flip of John Summit and Sub Focus’ collaboration “Go Back” could not be more perfect. 

“Too Sweet” – Hozier (Spoone Flip)

Who knew all that we were missing in life was a bass flip of Hozier? Spoone is an underground artist I recently discovered solely from this flip, which also happens to be his first and so far only release. I’m super excited to see what he flips next.

“Stupid Boi” – (MIND G4ME Flip)

For. The. Girls. MIND G4ME blends the iconic vocal phrase “Stupid Boi” with a hard-hitting growling bass to craft an undeniable anthem. The kind of song that gets better and better every time you play it. 

“…Ready For It” – Taylor Swift (Y!KES Flip)

I didn’t know this was an option, but I’m so happy it is. This unexpected flip done by Y!KES of Taylor Swift is an absolute heater. It’ll turn any Swiftie into a raver in record time. 

“Million Dollar Baby” – Tommy Richman (Steller Remix)

This one is addicting. Steller pushes this already hot track to its full potential by giving it a bass boost and some saxophone, giving the track a more resonant sound. Another Steller remix done by this fast-rising bass producer.
