Who hasn’t heard “I Can’t Stop” by Flux Pavilion? I would bet that for bass fans, it was one of the first bass tracks they heard and played an integral part in forming a love for bass music. While that song still hits to this day, most don’t realize it was released all the way back in 2010, which begs the question: What has Flux Pavilion been up to? I am excited to explore his journey in recent years, as he is still a dominant force to be reckoned with!
Flux Pavilion made a huge mark in the early 2010s, releasing a slew of absolute bangers, including “I Can’t Stop,” “Bass Cannon,” and “Savage.” He was a significant influence on the bass genre in the United States, and we owe a lot to Flux Pavilion for setting the stage for how popular bass is today. In the late 2010s, Flux Pavilion explored his more instrumental side. While it was never too far away from the bass we all know and love, he focused his sound more on the electric guitar. His live performances reflected this as well, often featuring Flux Pavilion and his electric guitar amazing audiences with his musicality. Around 2023 and beyond, Flux Pavilion shifted his sound back to his roots, and boy oh boy is this a welcome sign.
Flux Pavilion now focuses heavily on bass, and his releases have that nostalgic “throwback” vibe with updated production knowledge and a more diverse range of drops. Even though many of his releases feature the elongated dubstep notes that slam into the audience, he has explored genres such as trap and bass house, giving his discography more dimension. He has teamed up with fellow bass heavyweights such as Excision and Zeds Dead, mixing his signature sound with theirs flawlessly.
Flux Pavilion is here to stay, and I am excited he has returned to his roots. Even though he just performed in Arizona, cross your fingers for a quick return, as listening to a bass legend never gets old!
