Why Rezzmau5 is the Must-See Act of the Year

EDM superstar groups are seemingly popping up left and right, creating an exciting time for any EDM fan. Whether it’s small, up-and-coming artists or headliners, EDM “groups” inject a fresh stream of excitement into the EDM world, and I hope the momentum continues. When Deadmau5 and Rezz combined forces into an actual project, the world shook with anticipation. Two titans of relatively different genres joining forces isn’t unheard of, but it is rare enough to get the attention of everyone. Rezzmau5 is going to take over the scene, and it’s possible that together they will make more waves than the sum of their parts. I am excited to share why.

Rezz and Deadmau5 have a long history together, most notably with Deadmau5 helping Rezz get her first EP released on his label Mau5trap. The fellow Canadian has been a staunch supporter ever since, and it almost feels like this duo was inevitable after Rezz’s ascension into true headliner status. Even though their styles are different, with Deadmau5 remaining soundly as a leader in the progressive house space, and Rezz as one of the undeniable leaders in the space bass genre (with her own twist), they have fused their styles extremely well in their multiple live sets up to this point. The style is a deeper, darker house vibe, with trap/space bass accents to create a whirlwind of emotions and textures. You can see this unique vibe in a full set recording from their headlining performance at Veld, one of the largest EDM festivals in Canada.

With Rezz and Deadmau5 joining forces, they are effectively expanding their individual reach to each other’s fan base. Because they are both so popular, this immediately vaults Rezzmau5 into true headliner status, solidified by them closing a stage at the magical Tomorrowland. It is currently unknown how long this project will continue, so let’s cross our fingers that Rezzmau5 comes to Arizona; it will be a must-see concert!
