GorillaT & JAENGA Collaborate On Insane New Release, ‘Bear Witness’

Denver-based producer and DJ GorillaT has steadily risen through the EDM ranks, establishing a name for himself and creating his own brand of wonky beats and luscious soundscapes. He has performed at numerous festivals, such as Shaq’s Bass All-Stars and Lost Lands. Wowing crowds all over the country with his dynamic live sets. Jaenga, another key player in the Denver scene, is known for such iconic tracks as “Raspberry Mango” and “1000 Degrees,” a collaboration with fellow Denver Producer Dirt Monkey. He has also collaborated with acts such as SubDocta (“Jungle Song”) and Charmae (“Higher”) to create an incredible discography with star-studded guest appearances. After much anticipation, these two MAJOR forces have finally collided to bring us “Bear Witness.” A heavy-hitter loaded with smooth loops, unique sampling choices, and WILD drops. The track begins on a melodic note with sweeping production choices and scratch-heavy vocal samples. GorillaT’s auditory fingerprint is easily identifiable in this introduction and gives us a taste of what to expect. “Don’t need to tell nobody, just sit back and BEAR WITNESS, YUH!” A signal for listeners to strap in a prepare for the wild ride ahead of them.

Fluttering instrumentals and steady claps and kicks build anticipation before transforming into rolling spirals and rising strings. Weaving through traffic like a loaded tour bus. The drums beat along as the vocals distort along with sharp wonks as the tempo increases. And BOOOM! We have entered the first drop. This first drop features GorillaT’s trademark primate-like cries and Jaengas intergalactic lasers. A match made in EDM heaven. The drop wonks back and forth like an ape on espresso. We then return to the glistening soundscape and are lead down a cascading, rhythmic bridge. The instrumentals GO OFF and fold in on themselves. Sputtering into the second drop. The extended second drop effortlessly blends the collaborating artist’s styles, inter-spliced with wonks and vocal samples. The track fades out with one last metronomic bridge and commands to “Bear Witness” to this unforgettable track.

“Bear Witness” is the perfect introduction to the sounds of both of these artists for newcomers. And a distinct evolution in the sounds of both artists for the seasoned EDM veterans out there. GorillaT and Jaenga give it their all in this track. The effort, dedication, and passion put forward in this track does not go unnoticed. The social media marketing behind “Bear Witness” are as incredible as the track itself. An Instagram contest was announced to give away a skateboard deck featuring the single’s cover art. Jaenga and GorillaT also collaborated to create a Instagram skit featuring Jaenga’s manager to market the single. Jaenga’s manager walks in, encouraging the artists to finish their collaboration ASAP. The artists are “stuck” on completing the drop and Jaenga’s manager suggests hitting one simple note to finish out the track. Both artists immediately throw on headphones and eagerly hop on their laptops to get to work. Bassfaces ensue as they admire they work and groove along to the beat. Jaenga is well-known for throwing on disguises and going incognito and his own shows and festival appearances. Sometimes even posing as a security guard. This marketing strategy is GENUIS and works on every level. Adding a humorous side to the countless hours of hard work that go into crafting a single track, let alone an entire album.
