YetepTwo trailblazers of the house music scene, Patrick Topping and Green Velvet, have joined forces again to release a funky tech house track. “Mad Motion” feels reminiscent of the tracks Green Velvet started putting out in the 2000s, making this one of my favorite modern-day tracks at the moment. The drum patterns also remind me of early Patrick Topping, which shows how true the artists are to their roots. This is a track that tells the tech house purists and day-one fans, “We haven’t forgotten about you,” which is why I love it so much.
Patrick Topping has been a key player in the house and techno scene for nearly a decade, consistently pushing boundaries with his addictive drum patterns and innovative production style. With numerous chart-topping hits like “Forget” and “Be Sharp Say Nowt,” he has cemented his reputation as a forward-thinking producer. Green Velvet, on the other hand, is a true veteran of the genre, known for iconic tracks like “La La Land” and “Flash.” With his eccentric persona and fearless experimentation, he has been a pioneering force in shaping the landscape of house music. “Mad Motion” is a perfect synthesis of Topping’s fresh, energetic sound and Green Velvet’s signature quirkiness, offering fans a track that feels both familiar and groundbreaking.
Since its release, “Mad Motion” has quickly caught the attention of DJs including Oliver Heldens, Mau P, Martin Garrix, and more. Early reactions from fans have been overwhelmingly positive, with support from DJs all around the world. Big names in the scene have already incorporated the track into their sets, and it’s starting to gain traction on key house music playlists like Spotify’s “UK House Music,” “Martin Garrix Radio,” “Armada Today,” and more. Notably, peaking at #13 on Beatport’s top 100 charts suggests it’s well on its way to becoming a club staple.
