YetepWe’re just a few weeks out from the return of PHXLIGHTS so if you haven’t heard of Jon Casey yet, now’s the time to get familiar. By this time next year, my bets are on him playing mainstage at every bass festival. His unique sound and insane energy will make his set at PHXLIGHTS one you don’t want to miss… hint: think RL Grime meets Mr. Carmack meets ATLiens, with a little Zeds Dead vocal twist.
Originally from South Africa, Jon Casey has been mixing and mastering bass music since his preteens and has steadily made waves in the trap space. He takes inspiration from hip hop and classic trap, and blends it into heavy experimental bass with trippy synths. Over the past few years, he’s dropped tracks on Sable Valley, Jadu Dala, and Bassrush, and collabed with big names like TroyBoi, PEEKABOO, and now Wreckno on his most recent release of “Next Up.”
Jon Casey isn’t just a master producer – his live sets are high energy, in-your-face, and full of surprises. And by surprises, I mean he’s said himself that when you describe his music, “you can take your concept of a metronome and throw it out the window.” He doesn’t just play music; he takes the crowd on a ride by mixing unreleased tracks, heavy bass edits, and unexpected drops that get huge reactions from the crowd.
Now, he’s onto something huge. With more big name artists playing him out at festivals and fans catching on, 2025 is shaping up to be his breakout year. At PHXLIGHTS, he’s going to prove why he’s the one to watch. Expect a set that’s loud, intense, and unlike anything else you’ll hear all weekend.
Don’t miss his set, as it’ll likely be the last time you can say “I saw him before he blew up.” Grab last minute tickets HERE to PHXLIGHTS: Solar Sound System on April 4-5th and follow @phxlightsfest on Instagram for updates!
