YetepBoston dubstep wizard Cyclops has made a serious impression on me this year, steadily evolving into one of my favorite stars of 2025. His sense of humor shines through in his music, clear in tracks like “Womp World,” a wubby fairytale with layered synths and addictive drum patterns. Cyclops is able to laugh and have fun without compromising the quality of his work. Cyclops appeared at Breakaway Arizona in April, continuing to spread his reach on the festival circuit.
Cyclops is back with another highly anticipated banger, “Blunt Song,” an instantly viral mix of talent, humor, and dizzying wonks. “Blunt Song” describes a HILARIOUS daily routine that rewards each completed step with… you guessed it.. A BLUNT! The intro features reverberating sound elements, pitter patter drums, and a haze of downtuned humming, steadily ramping up, before breaking a near-silent bridge. This bridge is filled with tension-building spirals that groove along with the vocals.
“Wake up..blunt. Brush my teeth.. blunt. Breakfast, eggs, coffee and a… BLUNT. Drive to work.. blunt Come back home.. blunt. Smoke again, go to bed and Dream about..”
The wubs thicken as Cyclops welcomes us into the first drop. A downtempo wonderland with multiple layers of bass and steady drums. “Blunt Song” transforms around the halfway point, keeping the reverberated wubs that are now covered in a starry blanket of sound. This track sections contains the same fantasy vibes as “Womp World.” Creating an ethereal dream world for the listener to get lost in. Frequencies similar to a rolling car alarm create one of the most unique sound design choices I have heard in a while. A prime example of Cyclops’ innovation as an artist.
The second drop slows things down to half speed. The drums become more prominent, creating the perfect rhythm for this drop. This drop takes on the vibe of Dirt Monkey and GorillaT, while adding Cyclops’s own surreal fingerprint. It is easy to see how this song went viral so quickly. The production is incredible and the sampling is ON POINT!! Cyclops’ sense of humor adds more character and personality to the mix. Cyclops is on a hot streak this year and I cannot wait to see what he brings us next. Keep up the great work, KING!
