YetepSubtronics just gave us a moment to catch our breath. Fresh off the massive announcement that Fibonacci Part 2 is landing this December and his first headlining tour in two years, the wonk god has dropped a surprise new single, “Friends,” with vocalist Linney.
This track shows a different side of the producer. While we are used to earth-shattering drops and chaotic sound design, “Friends” leans into a softer, more melodic vibe. Linney’s powerful, clear vocals take the spotlight with this track, over a backdrop of uplifting sound and emotional progression. Although, it is still unmistakably a Subtronics track. He never fails to include those “sploinky” synths and the playful bass through his songs. A master at blending any project with his signature weirdness.
Arriving just before his upcoming tour and the highly anticipated Fibonacci Part 2, “Friends” seems like an intentional shift in pace. It is a track built for singing along with your rave family, offering a moment of connection in the midst of chaos. The track is out now on all platforms, serving as the perfect melodic bridge to what is sure to be a massive end to the year for Subtronics and his fans.
