With DUSK lighting up downtown Tucson this weekend, it’s officially time to get your bags packed and your outfits planned! Between long days under the Arizona sun, dancing through the night, and that signature desert dust, having the right essentials can make or break you. Whether it’s your first DUSK or you’re a returning regular, here’s everything you need to bring to stay comfortable, protected, and ready all weekend long.

You’ll be on your feet for hours, so staying hydrated is everything. Bring a refillable water bottle or hydration pack — there will be free water refill stations throughout the festuval grounds. Electrolyte packets are also a lifesaver when the heat hits.

I’ve been choosing comfort over everything when it comes to my recent festival outfits. You want to be as stress free as possible and not have to worry about a complicated outfit, especially when it’s time to use a porta potty… Light, breathable outfits for the day and a hoodie or jacket for cooler nights. It’s also looking like there might be some rain on Saturday, so consider bringing a light poncho or waterproof layer just in case. Don’t forget comfortable shoes — you’ll thank yourself later!

A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are non-negotiable. If your festival takes place in a dusty area (hello, DUSK and beyond), pack a bandana, pashmina, or scarf to cover your face. It’ll help protect your lungs and skin from dust while doubling as a cute accessory for your outfit. You’ll be outside all day, and a sunburn is not the kind of souvenir you want.

Please bring earplugs to protect your hearing!!! The music might be the main event, but don’t forget to protect your ears while you’re soaking it all in. Festivals can hit sound levels over 100 decibels, which can cause hearing damage after prolonged exposure. Invest in a good pair of high-fidelity earplugs — they reduce volume evenly so you can still enjoy the full sound experience without the ring in your ears afterward. You’ll barely notice them, and your future self will thank you.
Pro Tip: Always check your festival’s website for their approved and prohibited items list — every event has its own rules. You can find DUSK’s FAQ HERE.
With these essentials packed, you’ll be ready for whatever the weekend throws your way — dust, rain, sunshine and all. All that’s left is to grab your crew, set your schedule, and get ready to dance the night away. We’ll see you this weekend at Jacome Plaza in Tucson! You can grab your DUSK festival tickets and check out more information here.
