YetepIt’s the collaboration that nobody really saw coming. Super-producer Marshmello has teamed up with Los Angeles dubstep king Svdden Death to deliver an unlikely combination of the two’s distinct styles. “Sell Out” was teased on social media the past couple of weeks, and now the tune has finally seen the light of day. The intro screams Mello, as it starts out with his signature lighthearted synths, making you wonder just how Svdden Death fits into the equation. Once the drop hits, this seemingly questionable collab svddenly (get it?) makes sense. Svdden Death’s mechanical touch brings this jumpy melodic tune into a full on headbangers anthem. Some may be surprised by Marshmello switching over to the riddim world, but if you’ve been able to catch one of his live sets, you’re well aware that the masked producer doesn’t always stay soft and squishy. You can listen for yourself below.
“Sell Out” is a testament to the saying “opposites attract.” Two producers with seemingly nothing in common, aside from their devotion to electronic music, have infused their own bravuras into one track to surprise and maybe even confuse the EDM world. All we know is that the song is very solid and even as we wonder how it came to be, we aren’t complaining at all about this unlikely pairing.
