YetepWhile the name James Kennedy may seem unfamiliar to some, this UK native DJ and producer sure didn’t come up quietly. In 2014, Kennedy joined the cast of Bravo reality show Vanderpump Rules working originally as a busboy with a passion for music and later went on to headline at SUR, the shows famed West Hollywood restaurant frequented daily by tourists and locals. Outside of the restaurant, Kennedy is currently on tour making his mark in the UK, Canada and all across the states.
Kennedy credits some of this rapid rise to fame to his socialite parents who were not only great friends with the Vanderpumps but also close with noteworthy music industry legends like George Michaels, Kennedy’s godfather. Kennedy’s late father was not only great friends with Michaels but also managed the singer’s label Aegean Records, so naturally, music came to the forefront of Kennedy’s career.
At the restaurant, on tour, and in leisure, Kennedy turns dance, trap, house and more while sprinkling some originals like the relaxed, mid-tempo track “Get Loose” or the upbeat, fist-pumper titled “Party” along with other clubby tracks often featuring his own rapping and vocals. Also often featured are Kennedy’s SUR co-workers and cast-mates like co-star Lala Kent on his No. 1 groove “Feeling You” and Max Vanderpump on Kennedy’s catchy Pump Sessions single “Sevii.” Since 2009, Kennedy has dropped at least eight albums or EP’s like the 2010 Off the Record, 2012’s Roulette, 2014’s 25 and his latest 2018 release How We Are. Most recently, back in May, he dropped the ambient yet snappy track “Can’t Stop” with Heartrob. Take a listen!
Don’t miss your chance to groove to these tracks in Glendale on Sunday, September 1 at Salt: Tacos y Tequila. Grab your tickets here!
