In my early days, I was a pure headbanger, but everything changed when my friend dragged me to the space bass stage at Bassrush 2018 in California. Space Bass is truly remarkable, partly because it’s weird music, and it takes mastery to produce art in this genre. One of my favorite things about listening to space bass music is that it can tickle your brain with its intricacies and sound design. So, I wanted to showcase five of my favorite space bass songs that do just that. Give these tracks a listen with good headphones or in your car, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
“Rainbow Funk” by Ahee, Probcause
This song has been on repeat and is the reason I wrote this blog. It’s both funky and spacey, and does both extremely well. The first drop is funky, but still a bop. The second and third drops are where it really tickles your brain. Both drops have high-pitched sounds and elongated notes that pierce your soul and make you wiggle. This is a must-check-out!
“R.A.V.E. – Xotix Remix” by Xotix, LSDREAM, Shlump
This song is the epitome of brain tickling. This remix by Xotix is absolute fire, a hybrid between trap, dubstep, and space bass. The first drop is trap, with high-pitched, seemingly random notes serving as the melody, yet done with beautiful precision to transport you to space. The second drop is color bass dubstep, showcasing Xotix’s creativity and mastery over production.
“HITTA” by G-Rex
Even though this song is older, it’s still one of my favorites. It starts with a calm yet deep beginning, quickly building up with a well-constructed buildup that creates tension. The drop consists of elongated notes cascading upwards with incredible space bass accents, a perfect symphony of spacey sounds to send you to a different dimension.
“Manifest That Shit” by Zebbler Encanti Experience
Zebbler Encanti Experience is one of my favorite artists, with incredible production skills and tracks to back it up. This song can be loosely classified as trip-hop, combining space bass elements with glitch-hop rhythm. It’s masterfully made, taking you on a fast-paced journey. Despite its diversity, the fusion creates a masterpiece that’s funky and extremely spacey. This is one of the tracks that will open the gates of space bass to you!
“Ceremony” by Liquid Stranger, Clozee
Last but not least is a legendary collab between Liquid Stranger and Clozee. These artists are titans in the space industry, and they produced one of the gnarliest tracks you’ll hear. The song has a slower tempo than the rest on this list, but arguably, it’s the one that will get you going the most. The drops are slower-paced, deep growls delicately made to rip space apart. This song is an incredible showcase of their skills and how insanely cool space bass can be.
