It arrives on the heels of his collaboration with ILLENIUM & ÁSDÍS, “Not Even Love.” Right out of the gate, it bowed at #14 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, going on to amass 5.3 million Spotify streams and counting. On the track, an ethereal synth loop surges through the soundscape, setting the tempo. Hilda contributes a soaring vocal performance as the momentum gives way to an electrifying breakdown. Her vocals convey the passion behind the lyrics. Keeping up with the beat with ease. The song illuminates his unrivaled and undeniable electronic music alchemy. “Easy Lover” draws inspiration from trance, house, and techno to create a dynamic blend of genres. The production on this track glistens like an ocean reflecting the sun’s rays. Creating a bright and positive tone throughout. Icy, cascading synths and bassy undertones add to the vibe and variety of “Easy Lover.” Shooting stars fire in all directions around the 1:14 mark, adding one of my favorite hidden gems to this incredible track.

“Easy Lover” is a lyrical masterpiece and discusses a low-pressure, low-maintenance relationship in which the two lovers can express themselves freely and get along effortlessly. “You look so pretty with no future plans. Low expectations are glam. All you have is no money. I don’t have no money too. But that don’t mean that I don’t need you.”

This line shows that the lovers discussed in the release live in the moment and do not expect the world from each other. Relieving some of the pressure that can come from meeting a new relationship through spontaneity. They do not have much money between them, but this fact brings them closer together. Hilda passionately sings, “Easy lover. Eyes stuck on your ceiling were still, undiscovered. Even when you leave me, you’re my easy lover,” which leads us into first chorus. “Easy lover (if I never let you in). Easy Lover (you’ll never let me down).” The lover is assessing the risk of letting this romantic interest into her life, while acknowledging that she cannot be heartbroken if she resists opening herself up to this individual. Also admitting that she will remember this person in the same way if things eventually fizzle out.

“Don’t even need to know. Easy come, easy go. All you have is nobody. I don’t have nobody too. But that don’t mean that I don’t need you.”

The vulnerability in this passage is very palpable. The narrating lover is finding bliss in ignorance. Acknowledging that love can be quite tumultuous and change in an instant. Fully preparing for the potential partnership to tank. However, they are also confident in their chances, due to neither individual having a partner. Additionally, the lover reassures the other that their solitude doesn’t not count them out as a possible partner. “Easy Lover” ends with trance/house notes and one final chorus before gradually fading out. Excellent job, everyone! Hilda is an incredible vocalist and Seven Lions is firing on all cylinders here.
