Relentless Beats

5 Favorite Tracks from Big Gigantic’s Fluorescence: Beats You Can’t Live Without

Big Gigantic blessed us with Fluorescence this summer, an album that reaffirms their status as genre-blending alchemists in the electronic dance world. This record leans into their roots, jazzy sax riffs, glitchy synths, and hip-hop rhythms, while evolving with refined sound design and bold melodic experimentation. For all dance music lovers and bassheads alike, it’s a rich landscape of bass, groove, movement, and emotional tension. Here’s a breakdown of my favorite five from Fluorescence that push the limits of dancefloor dynamics and showcase Big G’s sonic versatility.

1. “Flourescence” – ft. Lady Blackbird

There’s something special about the first track of an album. It’s a vital opening to any soundtrack, and this one really sets the stage. This one is pure sunset vibe energy. Lady Blackbird’s vocals are a legendary addition to this song. Her vocals are mighty, the range is vast, spacious, and it feels like there is no limit to what her voice can achieve. Her tone and timbre draw you into the song. Just imagine her on a festival stage with a microphone, ready to sing to the setting sun. Her commanding vocals ride over a triumphant brass progression and a wide-open synth that swells with euphoria. The drop doesn’t just punch, it soars, and you can picture every laser available in production spanning the landscape as she leads you into the drop. The real magic is in the horn layering, live sax, and brass synths all interlace to give it a festival-ready edge that still feels intimate.

2. “In The City” – ft. Daily Bread

“In the City” fuses funk, soul, and electronic beats into a vibrant late-night anthem. Big Gigantic’s explosive brass and crisp percussion pair seamlessly with Daily Bread’s groovy, sample-driven textures, creating a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The drops hit with danceable energy, while the midsection grooves add depth and atmosphere, mirroring the chaotic yet harmonious rhythm of city life. Polished mixing keeps every element balanced, making this track as powerful on a festival stage as it is immersive through headphones.

3. “Highway” – ft. Blanke and ProbCause

A hybrid trap banger soaked in brass, swag, and funk. Blanke brings a variety of swells and filtered synths mixed with the funk soul that is ProbCause. ProbCause is a rapper known for his incredible flow, rhythmic precision, and sharp lyrics. It can be heard as he navigates his lyrics through the song. Big Gigantic builds and teases with glitchy effects and reversed horn swells, then drops into a headbanging groove. It’s got that intense set vibe, leaning on arrangement dynamics and textural switch-ups to maintain impact. For the crowd, it’s head-nod certified.

4. “Move Around”

The only song on the album without a feature, this one packs weight. Big Gigantic wanted this to feel like a trip down to New Orleans and a party on Bourbon Street. This song leans fully into their brass-heavy, funk-fueled sound without relying on collaborators. The track is driven by a relentless groove, where bold horn riffs cut through thick basslines and rapid-fire percussion. Its structure is straightforward but effective, keeping the energy high and the momentum constant, making it a no-frills hit that is purely Big G.

5. “Show Me” – ft. Koastle & Emilia Ali

This one might be my favorite on the entire album, a true standout on Fluorescence. Blending Big Gigantic’s signature brass-driven energy with Koastle’s ethereal, melodic vocals. The track opens with a dreamy, atmospheric intro that gradually builds into a rhythmic, bass-heavy drop, giving it a perfect balance of emotion and dancefloor power. The vocal hook adds a soaring, almost hypnotic layer, making the groove feel alive and immersive, while the production keeps every element crisp and textured. It’s dynamic, infectious, and emotionally resonant, the kind of song that sticks with you long after the set ends.

Fluorescence is both a homage and a progression, a sound show of genre-spanning brilliance. Whether you’re deep in the pit or dancing heavily in the back of the crowd, these tracks demand attention, movement, and respect.
