‘Selector’ by Yamagucci & OMRI: A Decadence 2024 Highlight

As we start gearing up for Decadence Arizona 2025: The Portal of Illusions, I’ve been reflecting back on last year’s installment, which was an incredible event with a near endless highlight reel. From being on the rail for John Summit at midnight, staying up front for ISOxo’s MINDBLOWING set that stole the show, and the intense bass of HOL! All of this excitement wore me out enough to head home. On the way out, I decided to stop by a side stage that was bumping House tunes. Shortly after my arrival, the DJ threw on “Selector” by Yamagucci and OMRI.. This move kept me at the side stage for the remaining forty-five minutes of the fest. The small crowd’s vibe was INCREDIBLE, with everyone fist pumping and shuffling. It was a great way to start out the New Year.

Selector” kicks things off with House hi-hats, claps and drum fills. Deep vocals build hype as the track breaks into a finger-wagging groove. This groove seamlessly blends into the first drop. A downtempo wonderland with THICK bass walls and weaving instrumentals. This leads us into a bridge filled with kick drums, wobbly spirals, and electric bass pulses. The catchy loop comes back in full swing, complimented by melodic notes. A brief silence occurs before breaking into the second drop. Robotic waves of bass radiate over heavy drums and a rising haze. “Selector” ends with one final drop.

Hearing “Selector” live sparked a newfound love and appreciation for House music in me. Serving as a springboard to discover a near endless stream of House Music. I love this style of House and point to “Selector” as a prime example of my taste within the genre. Thank you Decadence 2024 for the incredible memories and the artists that I discovered there.
