YetepExcision and Sullivan King just joined forces and decided to throw it way, way back. Their new collaborative EP, Raise the Dead, is a six-track EP with pure, unapologetic heaviness that feels like a throwback to 2016 Excision and Sullivan King.
The release first blew up the crowd at Excision’s recent EDC set, and for good reason. The EP isn’t trying to win a sound design trophy with the latest, most complicated wobbles. Instead, it’s all about that classic recipe: Sullivan King’s gnarly metal riffs and raw vocals smashed together with Excision’s signature, heavy bass. If you’ve been missing that specific kind of mosh-pit aggression, check this one out.
While it’s a loud, fun, and incredibly satisfying listen, it also makes you wonder. Dubstep is constantly evolving, getting faster, weirder, and more technical by the minute. So, does sticking to such a legendary, but familiar sound keep these two at the front of the pack, or is it a totally awesome victory lap for a different time? You get to decide. Press play on Raise the Dead and let us know what you think.
