YetepTraxsource recently went behind the track in an interview with Hot Since 82 label mate, Mihalis Safras. Traxsource recently named Safras their top Tech House DJ of 2015, so let’s dig into what’s causing this Grecian’s rapid rise in the underground house scene.
Safras recently released his ‘Barrage EP,’ which he revealed has received an emphatic stamp of approval from the likes of Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli and Hot Since 82. “The reaction so far is great! Hot Since 82 tested it throughout the summer and the reactions were just awesome! Plus Carl Cox and Nic Fanciulli have been hammering in their sets!”
In regards to the production tools that he utilized on this EP, specifically on the ‘Barrage’ track, he mentioned how the chopped up and looped vocals make the song work. “At least that’s what catches my ear and gives it its groove! It’s a simple, age old recipe to just edit a vocal and loop it… but it works every time for me!”
Safras also revealed his favorite production plug-ins: Massive from Native Instruments and Rocket from Stillwell. “I use them in literally all my tracks!”
His favorite piece of hardware? The Novation Bass Station 2.
And when it came to his advice for up and coming DJs and producers, Mihalis shared this: “Just love what you do and work really hard for it! I read somewhere that the real winner is the one that never gives up, not the one who wins all games… so there you have it!”
