YetepAs Electronic Dance Music becomes more integrated into our culture here in America, more and more awards and credibility are being given to Electronic artist in the scene. With the 58th annual Grammy Award ceremony having just been held, there was loads of excitement in the air as the winners of electronic categories were swept away by the duo Jack Ü. Skrillex and Diplo, who form the duo, took home the win for Best Dance Record along with Justin Bieber, as well as the Best Dance/Electronic Album for their self-titled debut. While this is Diplo and Justin Bieber’s first Grammy award ever, the veteran Skrillex claims this as his eighth Grammy Award.
The other nominees for best dance/electronic album were: Our Love by Caribou, Born In The Echoes by The Chemical Brothers, Caracal by Disclosure, In Colour by Jamie xx. Once awarded Jack Ü and Justin Bieber gave a special performance starting with an acoustic version of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself”. Right after that, Justin Bieber joined along with Skrillex, who turned away the knobs and picked up a guitar, while Diplo grabbed a pair of mallets for some bass drums and traded off with a keyboard as well. Check out the link below to watch their epic performance!

With this performance the normal DJ-duo completely turned the tables on everyone by throwing it back to more of an old school rick concert. It’ll be interesting to see if the duo in the future will keep up with performances like this and see if they evolve into something completely new. Either way Jack Ü continues to push the limits of what EDM music is and the Grammy Award was well deserved.
