Eight Tracks to Hype You Up for Trapfest Tucson

Trapfest is right around the corner and this year Tucson is getting its own sample of grimy vibes. Trapfest Tucson is on July 14th at Club XS and features the likes of LOUDPVCK, Party Favor, SAYMYNAME, and JSTSR. Bassheads are going to be at home here, and we’ve got some tracks to prove it.

Party Favor’s recent trap banger never fails to hype up a crowd…or start a mosh. “WaWa” has a soul piercing drop that infects the dance floor with energy similar to the legendary RL Grime song “Core.”

LOUDPVCK has a reputation for being some of the funniest DJ’s on Twitter, and their outlandish personalities show through in the group’s production style. “Gone” has a very impressive pitched up vocal sample that drops into a gnarly breakdown typical of the duo’s past work.

JSTJR has a style that’s difficult to pin down, but he seems to be influenced by moombah superstar Dillon Francis. His redo of “Vertebreaker” is surprising but incredibly vibey with those relaxed moombahton drums. JSTJR even made sure to retain the filthy metallic noises that make the original so satisfying.

Arizona fanboy, SAYMYNAME, is returning for his third big show of 2017, and you can bet it’s gonna be a doozie. His hard trap production sound has really begun to grow this past year, and this remix of “Ocho Cinco” showcases his progression. So far, SAYMYNAME has gotten better every time I’ve seen him. Third time’s the charm.

Karra & Rickyxsan deliver amazing vocal performances on this lush banger from LOUDPVCK. This track seemed to start a new sound direction for the group, as they produce more soft choruses with grimier drops. “More Than I Can Take” will definitely have the crowd feeling some type of way at Trapfest.

Party Favor’s take on this iconic Bro Safari banger cranks the hype to 11. “Scumbag” is one of those special songs that entice the whole crowd chant along with it. Party Favor’s edit is my preferred version by far.

JSTJR’s latest release, “Fried,” is a moombahton dream. The whining sample over a cool dry drum pattern accent each other so well. This track also has a nice weight to the sound of the drums, which makes it perfect for gettin’ down.

Another welcome derivative from SAYMYNAME’s typical sound is his collab with French house artist Mercer. This track patterns the SAYMYNAME synth over a groovy house beat that works surprisingly well. The whole level of production feels much smoother than SAYMYNAME’s usual fair that it’s worth a listen.
