YetepOver the past year or two, Orange County DJ and Producer DEVAULT has been coming out with some pretty unbeatable remixes from the likes of Rihanna, Billie Ellish, RL Grime, etc. Not to mention his original tracks and collabs with other extremely talented names such as ARMNHMR and Wildfire. DEVAULT has been gaining a ton of traction recently and it’s clear that he’s just beginning his climb to the top.
“Homemade Dynamite” is what I consider to be one of the best songs off of Lorde’s newest album Melodrama, if not one of the best of her career. When I first saw Devault’s remix of it reposted on my Soundcloud feed, I thought there was no way that he, nor anyone else could do it justice. Thankfully, I was wrong.

The track begins eerily and starts to carry us away with a simplistic beat behind Lorde’s slightly echoed vocals. As the song progresses, there are more elements added to the melody. Finally, the beat starts to build and DEVAULT takes us on a journey through synths unique to most of the content being produced.
While it’s difficult to have a disappointing track that features Lorde, DEVAULT’s remix definitely added to the song and created a whole different vibe. The way that he weaves the beat through Lorde’s vocals compliments the tone of the song and adds its unique quality.
